Medicinal Improvements
Garfield’s, public and preventable death, the medical community began to uniformly except germ theory, and it began to develop immediately afterwards. In the past, medical professionals were unsure on the cause of disease, but after the world watched what happened to president Garfield it was clear that Germ Theory is essential to saving lives. With this new found practice vaccines for anthrax, rabies, tetanus, and diphtheria were all discovered1. In Garfield’s dying process Alexander Graham Bell, also invented the metal detector that, if used correctly, would help surgeons find bullets within a body without all the unnecessary prodding and digging.2
